Overcome PCOS with PCOS Diet

PCOS(Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) is a major cause for infertility in women. Most of the women suffering with PCOS are obese. There is no proper reason for the cause of PCOS, which this leads to hormonal imbalance. Due to this imbalance in hormones, it is difficult to conceive in most of the females. Even though there are many medications for PCOS, there is no permanent cure for this problem. We can’t cure it forever, but we can control it with some methods.

        In some cases, PCOS can be controlled by losing weight. When compared to normal person it is difficult to lose weight for the one suffering with PCOS. For the weight lose they have to follow a special diet included with some physical exercises.

Insulin effect on PCOS women:

        A PCOS diet plays a major role in overcoming PCOS, not only for weight loss but it also regulates the insulin levels. Insulin is an important hormone which transports sugar from the blood to the muscles of the body allowing the body to make use of the energy from glucose. High insulin levels leads to the PCOS, which further leads to the symptoms like increased unwanted hair growth, irregular menstrual cycle, weight gain and so on. So, management of blood insulin levels is crucial in overcoming the PCOS. Foods like carbohydrates, dairy products and fatty products increases the insulin levels, which leads to weight gain and to PCOS. Because of this insulin effect on PCOS, there is a danger for effecting with diabetes-2 in future. So, the insulin levels and the weight also be controlled with the help of a special diet called PCOS diet.

PCOS Diet:

          Women with PCOS will have more insulin levels when compared to others. The high insulin levels can cause your ovaries to produce more androgens, such as testosterone hormone. This high levels of insulin is called as insulin resistance, which may also be caused by having a BMI (Body Mass Index) more than the normal range. This insulin resistance makes our body difficult to lose weight, which is the reason why most of the PCOS women are overweight or obese.

        Foods which are high in fatty acids, carbohydrates and diary products can make difficulty in losing weight because this kind of foods leads to insulin resistance.

Foods we should have:

  • Green Leafy Vegetables
  • High fiber foods
  • Fruits
  • Healthy fatty foods
  • Low GI carbohydrates

Foods we should avoid:

  • Refined Carbohydrates
  • Processed foods
  • Alcohol
  • Caffeine
  • Dairy products
  • Unhealthy fatty foods

PCOS  is the major cause for infertility, this is mainly due to the insulin resistance and hormonal imbalance in the PCOS women. To overcome this situation, we have to consume the above listed foods and avoid the unnecessary foods. By maintaining the above diet there is a chance of overcoming the infertility due to PCOS.
